The Detroit Tigers placed lefty Andrew Miller on the 15-day disabled list this weekend with a strained left hamstring.
Miller's injury occurred in the fourth inning of Friday's start against the Chicago White Sox, apparently on the last pitch to Paul Konerko.
The promising youngster is 5-4 with a 4.42 ERA in 11 starts this season and plans to return as soon as medically possible. The timely return of scary reliever Fernando Rodney may help the Tigers stop losing so many games in a row.
Rodney (1-5, 5.40 ERA) has been battling right shoulder tendinitis since mid-June. The righty tossed three scoreless innings over four games during a rehab assignment with the AAA Toledo Mud Hens earlier this week, so he should be ready to roll.

Is it bad to be happy when division rivals get injured?
Not if you're me...
I feel absolutely no guilt for wishing other players to hurt themselves or any remorse for feeling elation when they do.
Competition is a fierce monster!
Well put, anonymous.
