We're getting a little impatient here.
San Francisco Giants slugger Barry Bonds has been on the verge of tying Hank Aaron's home run record since he hit #754 on July 27th at home against the Florida Marlins.
There have been all kinds of articles and blog posts about the fans in the stands recently - the ones in the upper decks with the out-stretched gloves, hoping to be at the right place at the right time.
In turn, there are piles of heart-warming stories of what these folks plan to do with the money ball: pay for a family member's cancer treatment, eliminate their debt, put their kids through college, make sure they have a lifetime supply of tacos, things of that nature.
Let us be the first to tell you that Barry Bonds could give a shit what you do with the $500k or so that the home run ball is worth.
One little boy told him that he would gladly return the record ball.
Bonds says, "Are you stupid? You'd have more money than your parents."Well, the kid may be stupid, but it's not very nice to point that sort of thing out. He's probably going to grow up with some sort of complex and become a serial murderer now. Good job, Barry.
Fans will get another chance to catch the sacred record-breaker tonight as Bonds faces Clay Hensley and the Padres at PETCO Park. Bonds is batting .172 lifetime against Hensley with 2 RBIs and no longballs.
