Monday's Babelicious Scoreboard
In what is turning out to be an important series in the AL West, Ichiro Suzuki pounded out three hits with one of the RBIs to lead the Seattle Mariners in victory Monday over the Los Angeles Angels, who were cruising on a four-game win streak.
Designated hitter Jose Vidro drove in the other run on a single to center in the third.
Though scarce the offense, Miguel Batista (11-7, 4.23 ERA) pitched seven strong innings, allowing only four hits with 2 strikeouts.
Halos hurler Kelvim Escobar (11-5, 2.87 ERA) was simply out-dueled. He tossed eight decent innings, giving up the two runs on eight hits with a walk and seven strikeouts.
Reggie Willits went 2-for-3 while Valdimir Guerrero and Jeff Mathis each added a hit of their own for Los Angeles, but couldn't bring anyone around the horn.
