After placing their seventh pitcher - prized rookie Phil Hughes - on the disabled list Thursday, the New York Yankees will bring up right-handers Darrell Rasner and Matt DeSalvo to fill the gaping holes in their rotation for the upcoming weekend series against the Seattle Mariners.
This move may make history - becoming the first club in big league history to use 10 starters in its first 30 games.
Rasner is scheduled to make his fourth start Sunday, with DeSalvo making his major league debut in Monday's series finale.
The Yanks also recalled righty Chris Britton before their 4-3 win over the Texas Rangers in part one of a doubleheader, then optioned him to AAA Scranton between games so the Yankees could activate Mike Mussina for the second game - his first start since he strained a hamstring April 11.
Bad news for Carl Pavano, who is still sidelined by a stiff forearm. He cut short a bullpen session Wednesday due to discomfort, saying the pain has been consistent since he started throwing again. Pavano is scheduled to undergo an MRI exam this weekend.

I heard Chris Britton didn't get optioned, he just told Torre he didn't want to hurt his hammy and to send him back down.
Dude, you and your conspiracy theories. I love it.
