Wednesday's Babelicious Scoreboard



New York Mets (29-16) starter Oliver Perez (6-3, 2.54 ERA) threw seven good innings, improving to 3-0 against the Atlanta Braves (27-19) with a 3-0 win last night. He gave up only four hits and two walks, striking out five batters to tie the NL lead in wins.

This victory gives the first-place Mets a 2.5 game lead on Atlanta in the NL East.


David Wright hit fourth for the third time this season, nailing his eighth homer of the year.

Andruw Jones went 0-for-3, still slumping at a terrible .216 batting average.

Lefty Chuck James (4-4, 4.13 ERA) gave up seven hits and three runs - two earned - over 4.2 innings, walking three batters and recording two strikeouts.

It was Wright's 8th of the year, but 4th in the last 4 games, I believe.
