Mike Piazza is Old School

Oakland Athletics designated hitter Mike Piazza is expected to be sidelined four to six weeks with a strained right shoulder, which he injured last night diving into third base, unsuccessfully avoiding being tagged out.

With two outs in the sixth, Bobby Crosby hit a groundball to Boston Red Sox third baseman Mike Lowell. Both players charged for the bag and smashed into eachother. Piazza was tagged out, laying on the ground in pain - with a strained AC joint.

The veteran Piazza, who signed as a free agent after spending the previous 14 seasons as a National League guy, is batting .282 so far this season, He has hit safely in his last six games but is just 14-for-59 in his last fifteen.
