Manager Tony La Russa said general manager Walt Jocketty decided on the ban earlier today without consulting players or management. La Russa added it was a "largely symbolic move" since players don't drink much in the clubhouse anyway. A road-prohibition is also being considered.
"It's meaningful," La Russa said. "But it's not a significant factor in our clubhouse because our guys don't stay in the clubhouse to drink."

This should have happened long ago with every club in the big leagues, in my opinion. Save the booze for post season celebration, ya know?
These men are supposed to be adults. Let them choose for themselves where they can drink and to be responsible.
"Men"?! A lot of these player haven't even hit 30 yet! In my experience, that's about the time when boys become men.
