Wednesday's Babelicious Scoreboard

Fans tuned in from all across the globe to witness an outstanding pitching performance. They got one - from strikeout leader Felix Hernandez (2-0, 0.00 ERA) - rather than the expected show by Daisuke Matsuzaka (1-1, 2.57 ERA). Seattle's pitching phenom racked up 6 more K's and didn't allow a hit until J.D. Drew spoiled his no-no bid with a single on the first pitch he saw in the eighth inning.

The Mariners' (3-2) victory, a 3-0 win over the Red Sox (4-4), marked Hernandez's third complete game in 45 starts - his performance overshadowing the much-anticipated first big league matchup between Dice-K and Ichiro Suzuki.

Matsuzaka gave up the first run in the second on a single by Jose Guillen, a double by Kenji Johjima and a sac fly by Yuniesky Betancourt, while the other two runs came in the fifth on a double by Adrian Beltre and a base hit by Jose Vidro.

perhaps i need to put in an appearance at all the home games for us to win.
i'm 2-0 now.
and did you read souhan's column lamenting mauer's decision to bunt (not that he didn't understand why or that he was unhappy with the outcome, just that he'd rather see mauer swing for the fences)? clearly mauer understands the word team and souhan doesn't.

I DID read that. Funny, the person who was watching the game with me (who shall remain nameless for idiocy's sake) said the same thing. "The batting champ doesn't bunt! What the hell?!" It's called moving the runner over at all costs, batting champ or no. Teamwork!
