Most definitely in the twilight of his career, Jose Molina is reportedly joining the Tampa Bay Rays for the 2012 season. Suckers.
Despite his age, the 36-year old catcher posted a career-best .281 batting average last season with the Toronto Blue Jays, but still did next to nothing with runners in scoring position. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay backstop Kelly Shoppach struggled offensively, to say the least. Actually he sucked ass, batting .176 with 11 homers and 22 RBI. Shoppach did step it up a bit in the playoffs, however, crushing two longballs and batting .400 over four ALDS games against the Texas Rangers before going home a loser with the rest of his team. Wonder why the team didn't exercise his 2012 option...
Anyway, as much as I like Jose Molina, this news is kind of stupid. The Rays already have four catchers on their roster, including John Jaso, Jose Lobaton, Robinson Chirinos and Nevin Ashley. Who? Exactly. Either get rid of a few of these yahoos, or let some other team give Molina a chance to mold their young pitching talent with his veteran ways.
The middle brother between Bengie and Yadier, Jose actually played under Rays manager Joe Maddon from 2001-05 with the Los Angeles Angels. He's been with five different teams over his 12-year career, compiling a lifetime .241 average with 29 home runs and 163 RBI. Not exactly an offensive threat here people, but he can call one hell of a game. And he's good at squatting with catcher's gear on.
Remember how I said earlier that I liked Molina? Apparently that was a lie because until now, we hadn't written a single thing about him since he left the Halos to became a New York Yankee back in 2007. Welcome back, buddy.

Suckers is right. how does he keep getting major league jobs?
Everyone's least favorite Molina needs to retire while he still has his dignity. He's going to end up catching for Houston if he's not careful.
