During the first round of Interleague play this season, San Francisco Giants hurler Randy Johnson gets to face his former Seattle Mariners team (1989-1998) where he enjoyed one of his five Cy Young Awards in 1995.
Sadly, he could have been looking for big career victory #300, except the New York Mets clobbered him for seven runs on 11 hits in just four innings last Saturday in the Giants 9-6 loss.
The 45-year-old future Hall of Famer has allowed seven runs on three separate occasions this season, which is rather alarming if you ask me. He's fallen to 3-4 with a 6.86 ERA over eight starts with a giant 11.04 ERA spanning his last three outings, but has a decent track record against the Mariners. In five career starts against Seattle, he's 3-2 with a 2.03 ERA. Not bad, since the Mariners pretty much suck again this season, especially without Junior in the lineup.
However! Watch out for opposing pitcher Jason Vargas, who has delighted M's fans with a 1-0 record and 1.29 ERA in four starts this season.

Talk about full circle, with Jr. back there, too. You know I'm a Giants fan and I have to say that even though Randy Johnson is not quite as intimidating as he used to be, he can still hurl it pretty good. There is an odd comfort in seeing him next to Little Timmy in the dugout. You can nearly see the torch being passed. Plus that MLB 2K9 ad they did together still cracks me up.
