The Yovani Gallardo Show

Gallardo mades many Brewers fans spill their beers today.

Now that I've sobered up (kinda) from my super funtastic live-blogging experience over at the incomparable Walkoff Walk, where I only blew the internet up one time, which hardly anyone even noticed, and only had one beer per Johan Santana strikeout, it's time to talk about the awesomeness that is Yovani Gallardo.

The Milwaukee Brewers 23-year-old righty recorded 11 strikeouts in his team's 1-0 victory over the once-hot Pittsburgh Pirates this afternoon. Mark that down as a career high for the kid in the K's department. Gallardo, helping to polish off a sweep for the Brew Crew, also enjoyed a longball during the win, taking Ian Snell to deep left in the seventh inning. Obviously, that was the one and only Milwaukee run of the game and his second bomb of the season.

Gallardo (3-1, 3.71 ERA) didn’t allow a base runner until Andy LaRoche doubled with two outs in the fifth, surrendering a total of two hits and a walk over eight spectacular innings. He's allowed a total of two runs in his past three starts, highlighted by his first complete game victory last Friday in Houston.

Skipper Ken Macha, who I've gone on record as believing is a total moron, made a funny in his postgame press conference.
"I’ll be fast," he jested. "Hitting? Gallardo. Pitching? Gallardo. Any questions?"
Zing!

I third the Macha statement. I see him managing the Nationals after he and Acta both get fired this season.

Good call, Bassmaster.

It's like Brewers brass never watched an A's game or something.

Macha has been doing a great job with the Brewers. Maybe the problem in Oakland is the zeppelin sized ego of the GM. Really, its pretty stupid to have a GM managing the club regardless.
