It's a full-blown Joe-gasm.
I am more than delighted as a Twins fan to hear the news of my favorite club finally signing a decent full-time third baseman. No offense Bboys.
Instead of Brian Buscher (who actually kicked ass, batting .294 at third over 70 games) and Brendan Harris platooning the hot corner in 2009, Minnesota has decided to splurge and offer Joe Crede the position for an undisclosed amount that is perhaps -- and more than likely -- less than the $7 million base pay he was seeking.
The ex-Twins killer hit .400 in 40 at bats against Minnesota last season, nailing 7 (of his 17) homers and 17 (of 55) RBIs. Crede, 30, is set to face his former team in enemy territory at U.S. Cellular Field on April 10th. Stay tuned for updates.
Update: Crede's contract is reportedly worth between $2.5 and $7 million, depending on how much time he sees on the field.

A Buscher-Harris platoon would produce probably about a 117 OPS+. For comparison's sake, that's better than Adrian Beltre.
But Brian Buscher is a pretty awful third baseman, so he would definitely give back some of that value defensively
You can NEVER have too many Joes!
Okay, I take that back. If Joe Buck is in the mix, that's one too many for sure.
Joe Buck is a disgrace to Joes everywhere.
I'm so excited.
I think I just peed a little.
That's a great pick up. Crede's an excellent 3rd baseball and great hitter with 2 strikes.
from the money side of things, it is GREAT that they managed to get such a low base salary and have it function mostly off incentives!!
It says a lot about Crede's faith in his own ability to play the whole season and really lessens the risk for the Twins front office.
Way to go guys and I have to admit that I'm pretty darn exited to see real defense at that corner again!!!
