Weed Out the Crap: Borowski and Francoeur

Joe Borowski, being a total mouth-breather
Last season's AL saves leader has sucked it up long enough for the Cleveland Indians.

After blowing his fourth save in 10 chances on Wednesday against the Chicago White Sox, Joe Borowski (1-3, 7.56 ERA) was designated for assignment Friday. Some fans may contribute the right-hander's hardships to a lingering arm injury. But really, he just flat-out sucks these days. No control, no velocity, no talent.

Indians Manager Eric Wedge expects to give most of the remaining save opportunities this season to Masa Kobayashi, who has four saves along with Rafael Betancourt.

Also weeded out this weekend was Atlanta Braves outfield impersonator Jeff Francoeur.

In the middle of the worst slump of his young career, Francoeur was batting just .234 before being sent down to practice with the Class Double-A Mississippi Braves on Friday.

He's been promised a recall within three weeks, which should be a nice break from the at-home boos he received Thursday night after going 0-for-4.

Maybe the Brewers could pick him up. Two shitty closers equal one decent one right?

If not for Frankie's boyish charm and fatal good looks, I'd hate him.
