Interleague Goodness

The Los Angeles Dodgers managed to get the 1-0 win yesterday over the cross-town Angels without getting even one hit.

Jered Weaver threw six no-hit innings before Jose Arredondo held the Dodgers hitless in the seventh and eighth, but since they didn't have an at-bat in the ninth, the no-no was lost and the Dodgers became the fifth team in big league history to win without getting a hit.

Matt Kemp’s slow roller to the hill in the fifth inning resulted in Weaver’s fielding error which led to the game’s only (unearned) run. Shut out for the second game in a row, the Halos finished with five hits, but never managed to get a runner past second base.

Meanwhile... the Milwaukee Brewers and Minnesota Twins continue their fight over Paul Molitor.

Brewers starter Manny Parra allowed just two hits over seven innings to win his sixth straight start and end the Twins' 10-game winning streak with a 5-1 victory Saturday night. I was there, it was sad.

Bill Hall nailed a two-run double while Ryan Braun and Corey Hart also contributed runs for the Crew, who have won 9 of 12. The Twins, who had just three runners advance to second base all night -- excluding Jason Kubel's ninth-inning solo shot -- grounded out 11 times on Parra.

Both teams will try for a series win Sunday at 2:10pm ET.

Andy Pettitte out-pitched New York Mets ace Johan Santana Saturday, leading his New York Yankees to a 3-2 rain-soaked victory.

Pettitte, who is 9-5 with a 3.98 ERA, allowed only solo homers to David Wright and Ramon Castro over six solid innings, improving to 6-0 in eight outings since his May 17th loss to Santana at Yankee Stadium.

Johan dropped his fourth consecutive decision, receiving little run support from his team once again. He struck out eight over six innings, giving up three runs on four hits with four walks -— one intentional —- and a highly-contested balk.

Carlos Beltran earned a golden sombrero, striking out all four times against Pettitte. Ole!

We could have comiserated together. Then thrown beer bottles at the Brewers' fans that were yelling 'you suck' to Joe Mauer.
Blaspheming the baby Jesus like that...

You must love the no-hit no-win situation...I imagine pitchers love it too when they get no support from the lineup.
