Not only is Joey Votto adorable, he can also hit bombs.

The 24-year-old monster first baseman blasted three homers Wednesday for the Cincinnati Reds, raising his batting average to .302 with 7 longballs and 18 RBIs on the season.

During Chicago Cubs' righty Jon Lieber's first start of the season (Welcome!) Votto sparked the four-homer second inning, followed by Adam Dunn and Paul Bako with solos and Jerry Hairston Jr. with a two-run shot.

But Votto wasn't finished smoking fastballs through the wind and the rain. He and Brandon Phillips sent back-to-solo taters off Sean Marshall in the fifth, before hitting his third and final an inning later for a two-run dinger off Sean Gallagher. This marks the first time Votto has hit more than one round-tripper in a game.

The 38-year-old Lieber, who replaced demoted left-hander Rich Hill in the rotation, joins Phil Norton as the only Cubbies pitchers to allow four homers in a single inning. He lasted through just two, and was tagged for five runs on seven hits.

"It just happened so fast," he said.
