The Toronto Blue Jays, looking for some outfield depth, signed Shannon Stewart to a minor league deal this weekend.
The veteran outfielder, who was drafted by Toronto in 1992 and played there from 1995-2003, will vie for a starting spot in left field with Matt Stairs and Reed Johnson.
Stewart batted .290 with 12 homers and 48 RBIs for the Oakland Athletics last season, and is a career .298 hitter over 13 seasons with the Jays, A's, and Minnesota Twins.
