Ramon Castro to Stick Around NYC

Ramon CastroThe Mets are nearing a deal with free agent Ramon Castro that would keep the backup backstop in New York for two more seasons.

Castro hit .285 with 11 homers and 31 RBIs in 144 at-bats this season, which was shortened due to injury, just like the year before. Even though Paul Lo Duca, the Mets' starting catcher since 2006, left a gap as a free agent, the Mets may still be likely to seek a No. 1 catcher in front of Castro.
