The Mets are nearing a deal with free agent Ramon Castro that would keep the backup backstop in New York for two more seasons.Castro hit .285 with 11 homers and 31 RBIs in 144 at-bats this season, which was shortened due to injury, just like the year before. Even though Paul Lo Duca, the Mets' starting catcher since 2006, left a gap as a free agent, the Mets may still be likely to seek a No. 1 catcher in front of Castro.
