Marlins Play Spoiler Role Well

Hanley Ramirez is attacked by teammates after scoring the winning run Thursday night.
The New York Mets managed to blow a three-run lead twice Thursday night and they could be on the verge of blowing their lead in the NL East, after commanding a 7-game gap a little more than a week ago. Now, they've lost six of seven.

The Florida Marlins took advantage of the absence of Mets closer Billy Wagner (back spasms) by rallying for 3 runs in the ninth inning before scoring in the 10th on Dan Uggla's game-winning RBI double for an 8-7 victory.

Florida outhit the Mets 21-9 behind Dontrelle Willis, who also had a double in the fifth that ignited the Marlins' comeback.

And it was a bad loss all-around. Veteran starter Tom Glavine, who hasn't lost since July 2nd, surrendered a 3-0 lead, before right fielder/gangsta rapper Lastings Milledge was ejected after flying out in the seventh. Adding insult to injury, reliever Aaron Heilman was nailed by a ball thrown from the stands the next inning. The fan, who could have a future as a dead-eye hurler, was ejected.

New York's lead was shaved to 1.5 games by the Philadelphia Phillies, who rallied past the Washington Nationals 7-6. This is anyone's division.

if the Mets cannot finish this off, they will go down as one of the worst collapses in history, especially since their last ten games look like this: FLA 3, WASH 3, St. L 1, FLA 3.

also, poor Willie will hear about this collapse all winter, but he is not the one who put this crappy bullpen together.
