With a tight race for the American League Batting Title in the works, we thought it would be interesting to see who our readers think will pull ahead in the end.
As it stands today, Ichiro Suzuki leads the AL hitters with a .354 batting average with 11 games left in the Seattle Mariners' regular season.
Magglio Ordonez, who has led the league in hitting for most of the year, is hot on his trail, batting .353 with just 9 games remaining in the Detroit Tigers' season. Maggs' teammate, Placido Polanco is the next-closest in the competition with a .342 average.
Sarah's favorite stud backstop, Jorge Posada. The New York Yankees catcher is hitting .335, so he's got a hell of a lot of work to do while the other three slump if he wants to become just the fourth catcher to win the hot bat award.
Los Angeles Angels hot corner Chone Figgins averages roughly 5 plate appearances per game as a lead off hitter, so he should have no trouble qualifying for the batting title by the middle of next week... unless he hurts himself. Hitting .346, Figgins will pretty much need to go 3-for-5 for the rest of the season or watch Ichiro and Ordonez fall into slump to win it.
We'll take a look at the National League batting title race next week, with speculation surrounding one of my favorites to win it all.

No Chone Figgins? He's hitting .346 and only 36 plate appearances away from qualifying for the batting title (doable in 10 more games).
You're absolutely right, Gilbert. That is doable.
MAGGS ALL THE WAY!
Doable.
You had me at doable, Gilbert.
Five is a nice round number anyway, right? Someone needs to be voted last.
with Detroit imploding, and Ichiro's penchant for hitting singles in bunches i would think that Ichiro would have the advantage.
Having said that, isn't Posada's year remarkable, yet completely overshadowed by A-Rod? Thinking about this, isn't Posada's career very underrated??
