Thursday's Babelicious Scoreboard

Since we always keep our promises, here is the post-game rant of the Florida Marlins most recent victory.

After a few days off with kidney stones, Josh Willingham hit a solo shot and drove in another on a grounder to lead the Marlins in a 4-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies Thursday night.

Losing only one game since July 2nd, Marlins starter Sergio Mitre (5-5, 3.64 ERA) barreled through the first five innings, allowing just two hits before running into trouble in the sixth.

Through the steady rain, Philadelphia's Greg Dobbs hit a two-run double to tie it up that inning. Not for long, however! Marlins utilityman Alfredo Amezaga drove in the go-ahead run on a pinch-hit fielder's choice with the bags full in the ninth to help Florida duck the three-game sweep.

The Phillies, who wasted another solid start from Kyle Kendrick, remain four games behind the NL East-leading New York Mets and one behind the San Diego Padres in the wild-card race.

The rookie right-hander, who replaced the injured Freddy Garcia in the rotation, allowed two runs on six hits over seven innings with just 71 pitches.

The Phillies are 7-4 in games Kendrick has started.
