Out of Commission

Continuing to experience stiffness in his pitching arm, Florida Marlins righty Josh Johnson left the game against the San Diego Padres last night after just five innings. He was promptly placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Johnson missed the first 2 1/2 months of the season while recovering from an irritated ulnar nerve in his right elbow, and made only four starts since his activation on June 18th.

He held the Padres scoreless on four hits and struck out three Tuesday after coming into the contest with a ginormous 10.97 ERA.
The Tampa Bay Devil Rays placed closer Al Reyes on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with a strained right rotator cuff, leaving a gaping hole in the relief corps' hind-quarters.

Reyes has converted 17 of 18 save chances this season and is 1-1 with a 4.09 ERA in 34 games.

To replace him on the roster, the D'Rays recalled lefty Jon Switzer from AAA Durham Bulls.
