Sunday's Babelicious Scoreboard: Orioles @ Angels

Vladimir Guerrero is a freaking monster, but Chone Figgins got the Angels' ball rolling.

Baltimore Orioles (27-30) starter Jeremy Guthrie allowed two runs - one earned - and just three hits over eight good innings, striking out four without a walk in his seventh start of the season. The righty was moved into the rotation full-time on May 8th when Jaret Wright went on the DL and has been consistently impressive in the starting role with a 1.68 ERA.

Ervin Santana gave up three runs and seven hits over seven innings, striking out eight and walking one, but was denied the victory over the Los Angeles Angels (36-22).

Melvin Mora gave the O's a 2-1 lead in the fourth, driving a 3-2 pitch to left-center for his seventh bomb of the season and Jay Payton made it 3-1 with an RBI single that drove in Miguel Tejada in the sixth.

Jose Molina's one-out single in the third was the only hit for the AL West-leading Halos until Shea Hillenbrand singled with one out in the eighth and pinch-hitter Casey Kotchman followed with a double. Hillenbrand scored on Howie Kendrick's groundout, tightening the gap to 3-2.

Figgins met Baltimore closer Chris Ray with a leadoff single in the ninth before Vlad stepped to the plate and smoked a 1-1 hanging slider into the right field stands for his 350th career homer and 12th this season.

The blown save was Ray's fourth in 16 opportunities while LA's Chris Bootcheck pitched a perfect ninth for his first big league win.
