Lyle Overbay Out With Broken Hand

Yet another Toronto Blue Jays player has landed on the disabled list - that makes eleven.

First baseman Lyle Overbay broke his right hand during the third inning of Sunday's 4-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox when he was plunked by a John Danks fastball.

Overbay is expected to be sidelined four to six weeks.

He was replaced by Matt Stairs, underwent an X-ray and will most likely be placed on the disabled list (for the first time in his career) prior to tomorrow's game against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Overbay joins an impressive list of Jays injuries which currently includes closer B.J. Ryan's elbow, outfielder Reed Johnson's back, starter Gustavo Chacin's pitching shoulder and catcher Gregg Zaun's thumb.

The 30-year-old Overbay was batting .256 with eight longballs and 27 RBIs in 55 games this season.
