Jaret Wright has returned to the disabled list. Following a history of arm trouble, the Baltimore Orioles placed the right-hander on the DL for the second time this season on Monday, with no time-table set for his return.
The 31-year-old has had a sore right shoulder for most of this and half of last season. He was activated Sunday and allowed three runs, four hits and three walks in three innings of a loss at Cleveland.
Wright has undergone two surgeries on his right shoulder, hampering what began as a very promising career in which he has ended up 68-60 with a 5.09 ERA. This season, he is 0-3 with a 6.97 ERA.
Lefty Kurt Birkins was recalled from the AAA Norfolk Tides in Wright's absence. Birkins pitched only once in his previous stint with the O's this season, giving up a 12th-inning grand slam to Detroit's Craig Monroe on April 11th. Rather forgettable.[Baltimore Sun] | [Oriole Post]
