Squeeze Play: Braves @ Mets

Two of the hottest teams in the National League will meet up today as left-hander Oliver Pérez and the New York Mets host the division rival Atlanta Braves with lefty Chuck James on the hill at 1:10pm ET this afternoon.

The Mets are looking to regain control of the NL East, but Pérez has been wildly inconsistent thus far, pitching a 6-strike out, 5-hitter against the Braves on April 6th before walking seven and allowing three runs against the Phillies 5 days later.

James will try to rebound from his first loss of the season after a cold and windy start against the Nationals on Monday, when he gave up three runs and five hits through five innings of a 5-1 loss.

Atlanta took a big lead in the series opener Friday, cruising to a 7-3 win behind eight sharp innings from starter Tim Hudson. Mets third baseman David Wright went 0-for-3, ending his franchise-record hitting streak at 26 games. He's batting .235 with one RBI and six strikeouts versus the Braves.

Seriously. It's the Royals. Ponson and the pen SUCKED ASS last night, which is the main reason we lost that game. Our offense provided 7 runs on 11 hits - what more could you want from them?
