Squeeze Play: Return Of The Big Unit
You guys thought Jamie Moyer vs. Tom Glavine was the geriatric matchup of the year? You ain't seen nothin' yet.
Veteran left-hander David Wells, 43, will be on the mound for the San Diego Padres when they face another 43-year-old veteran lefty in Randy Johnson and the Arizona Diamondbacks at 9:40pm ET.
The Big Unit returns to the hill after October back surgery in his second stint with the D'Backs. He is 14-3 with a 2.07 ERA in 22 starts - including one relief appearance - against the Padres, but hasn't faced them since his last season with Arizona in 2004.
Wells is coming off a strong outing against the Diamondbacks, but didn't receive a decision after allowing two runs and three hits over seven innings in San Diego's 5-2 loss on Wednesday. He is 3-2 with a 4.23 ERA in nine starts against Arizona.
Padres right fielder Brian Giles is batting .074 (2-for-27) with 12 strikeouts against Johnson while center fielder Mike Cameron is hitting .080 (2-for-25) with 15 strikeouts. Let's see if Randy still knows how to leave them swinging.
The Diamondbacks and the Padres split a two-game set in San Diego last week.

Wrinkly matchups!
Yes!
I see Randy is not as pasty as he was in the Big Apple.
Hot.
Why do pictures always make David Wells look fat?
The camera adds 10 pounds, you know.
He's a total waif in real life.
