The Seattle Mariners have secured their young double-play combo through at least 2010.
The club's All-Star second baseman Jose Lopez signed a four-year contract on Wednesday - including a club option for a fifth season - just two weeks after they inked their 25-year-old shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt to a $13.75 million, four-year deal.
The Mariners signed Lopez when he was just 16 years old out of Venezuela in 2000. He made his big league debut midway through the 2004 season, and hit .282 with 10 homers last year, his first full season in the majors.
