Reed Johnson Lands on the DL

The Toronto Blue Jays placed their leadoff hitter, Reed Johnson on the 15-day disabled list Friday due to soreness in his back, retroactive to Thursday. Johnson had appeared in seven games this season - batting .265 with one home run and seven RBIs - but sat out during the Jays' 5-4 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Thursday night.

Johnson, 30, missed two weeks of spring training with the same injury after setting career highs in batting average (.319) and on-base percentage (.390) in 2006.

The club also recalled outfielder Adam Lind from AAA Syracuse. The 23-year-old lefty hit .367 with two home runs and eight RBIs in 18 games after being called up last September, so he'll take over as the everyday left-fielder.

Toronto is also waiting to see how long third baseman Troy Glaus will be out with a sore left heel and hamstring. Glaus left Thursday's game after just two innings and sat out of the lineup Friday.
