Former Twins pitcher and present color commentator Bert Blyleven is up for the Ford C. Frick Award - I'll leave that joke to you - honoring the game's top voices. There are 194 candidates for broadcasting excellence and voting ends today.
I don't know who is nominated, or if all commentators are nominated, but I got two words for you: Jim Kaat.
Why he should win: My friend once wrote a rhyme that bragged how he had "mad announcing skills like Jim Kaat." Plus, he's been a surrogate grandfather to me.

That is so awesome.
You're in luck, buddy! Jim Kaat IS on the ballot. Of course, if he wasn't you could always have written him in.
I can just imagine if Bert wins and gives his induction speech.
"And I want to thank my- ah f***, we have to start over because I f***ed it up!"
"Um, but you're live in front of an audience Bert."
Haha! That is pretty right on.
