Joe Mauer has a serious bat. It's a bat to reckon with. If you think he's slumping at .357, then maybe he's spoiled the crap out of you this season. Mauer's on the verge of re-writing history here. If he stays on pace, he will be the first catcher to lead the American League in hitting. First. Ever. The only catcher in MLB history to lead the league in hitting was
Ernie Lombardi, twice: once for the Reds in 1938 and then for the Braves in '42. We're talking Batting Title here.

But Joe Mauer isn't the only catcher with a hot bat. There are
eleven catchers in the Bigs hitting over .300 for the year! This is highly unusual considering their job. Here's
an interesting article on MLB.com. Enjoy!
