Anibal is not an Animal Anymore

Before everyone in our fantasy baseball league gives me a collective "I told you so" let me just state for the record, in my defense, Anibal Sanchez threw a no-hitter last year.

After being dumped on the AAA Albuquerque Isotopes on Friday, Sanchez was placed on the 15-day DL three days later with shoulder tendinitis and was scratched from his first start on Tuesday against the Memphis Redbirds.

He is currently in a 7-to-10 day no-throw period and will rehab at the Florida Marlins' Minor League complex in Jupiter.

Anibal Sanchez Cast Down to Minors

After struggling with his command all season in what seems to be a bit of a sophomore slump, Florida Marlins righty Anibal Sanchez was optioned to the AAA Albuquerque Isotopes, where he is to rekindle the spark that helped him throw a rookie no-hitter nearly 8 months ago.

Sanchez has allowed 43 hits and 19 walks in just 30 innings this season, compiling a 2-1 record and 4.80 ERA over six starts.

Related, the Marlins activated righty Jorge Julio from the disabled list. Julio, carrying the baggage of a 19.06 ERA in seven games, lost the closer's job before he went on the DL in mid-April with a strained right calf.

Right-hander Sergio Mitre's blister is healed, so he will be activated to start Saturday against the San Diego Padres while righty Wes Obermueller will take Sanchez's place Tuesday against the Los Angeles Angels.
