Is this Prince Fielder's Last Season with the Brewers?

Prince Fielder has had a hell of a season. Heading into his Milwaukee Brewers' road trip Friday night, which begins with the Cincinnati Reds and ends with the Chicago Cubs, he is batting .294 with 32 home runs and 109 RBI.

The husky first baseman, who is facing free agency at the end of the 2011 season, has the devil of Scott Boras on his shoulder. In fact, Boras said in an interview with TBS this week that this is "probably [Fielder's] last season with Milwaukee."

The Brewers' lead in the National League Central dropped to 5 1/2 games over the St. Louis Cardinals Wednesday, which is a considerable drop since building a 10 1/2-game lead before losing six of their last eight games. Meanwhile, the Cardinals have won seven of their last eight. Milwaukee has only scored 16 runs over their current slump and are batting just .202. That might not be quite good enough to enjoy their first title since winning the AL East back in 1982.

Fielder doesn't seem all that unhappy though:

"We’ve hit a little bump right now. We’re still ahead. I don’t see the need for worry quite yet... We’ve just got to come out and win. We’ve still got a lead, hopefully we just turn it around, but like I said, everybody’s giving 100 percent, that’s all you can ask for."

Some good news: 76-year-old Brewers radio broadcaster Bob Uecker says he plans to return for his 42nd season after two separate heart surgeries last season.

My huz and I were just discussing this last night.. That Fielder will probably end up being a highly overpaid DH in the American League (Boston, perhaps?)..

I think he wants to go to the American League and be a designated hitter because he's come to the sad realization that he's just too damn fat to play first base. Pretty soon Kung Fu Panda will be hitting from the DH spot too.
