And I Got Mad Hits Like I Was [Ichiro] Rod Carew

On the 10th anniversary of his big league debut, Ichiro Suzuki nailed a ninth-inning RBI single to become the Seattle Mariners all-time hits leader.

During his team's 5-2 victory over the Oakland Athletics Saturday, the All-Star right-fielder tied the mark on an infield single in the third inning before his milestone hit in the ninth off Brian Fuentes.

Ichiro has officially smoked 2,248 hits over his career, one more than his good buddy Edgar Martinez.

"Today I broke his record [and] when you look at the numbers, that’s a fact. But he’s a hero back in Seattle. He’s my hero as well. I played with Edgar for years and that’s something that’s important to me. That’s precious."

Ichiro has been invited to the All-Star game in all 10 of his major league seasons, managing 10 Gold Gloves, and the 2001 Rookie of the Year Award and American League MVP honors, while collecting 200-plus hits with at least a .300 batting average in each of those seasons. Ridiculous.

It's actually our continuing segment in which Ichiro does something amazing.
