Season's Greetings: Happy Opening Day!

We are firm believers that Opening Day should be considered a National Holiday. In fact, I'm surprised no President has gotten on that yet. However, to us it's more of a religious holiday chock-full of tradition, passion, and pure, unadulterated anticipation leading up to it.

We are as excited as a child on Christmas morning.

We are not going to work today. Our only mission is to watch baseball and enjoy every second. If only we had six televisions... God bless MLB Network.

What game are you most pumped up for today? Perhaps you can't wait to see Justin Verlander take the hill against CC Sabathia and the New York Yankees. We bet you residents of Cincinnati are all kinda of fired up for the Brewers to come to Great American Ballpark today. Maybe you've been tossing and turning all night, dreaming about the Pittsburgh Pirates visiting Wrigley Field tomorrow. One match-up we're looking forward to is the reigning World Champion San Francisco Giants taking on their sworn enemies at Dodger Stadium.

At 7pm ET on ESPN, two of the best pitchers in the National League will go head-to-head and make our offseason dreams come true. Two-time Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum, who spent his offseason doing all kinds of fun stuff probably, will take the hill against Clayton Kershaw, who spent part of his offseason building a school in Africa. Two totally different guys on the same mission.

This game is such a big deal that a few San Francisco Giants fans, who clearly bleed orange and black, have donated money for a diabolical plan to fly a "Beat LA" banner over the stadium this evening. Yay rivalries!

Don't forget to set your fantasy rosters, and enjoy America's Pastime today!

P.S. Speaking of the Giants, Barry Zito was in a car accident last night, but he appears to be alright upon his release from the hospital. [San Francisco Chronicle]

Amen to that!

C'mon, babes, show Cincinnati some love. Not even a mention in your glorious Opening Day article? In this city, it IS practically an official holiday. Downtown shuts it down for the parade, people take off work, children don't go to school. And this year we're celebrating the 2010 NL Central Champs!

I added a sentence about the Reds just for you Alyson! There are so many great games today, it's hard to just choose a few. :)
