(...and Aaron Rowand too I guess.)
If there's one thing Pat Burrell might like to do before he retires, it's to beat the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Championship Series to move onto the World Series as a San Francisco Giant.
The one-time Phillies Hero was cast away last year and replaced like a burned out light bulb. Things were not looking so good for Burrell early on this season when he was released by the Tampa Bay Rays after sucking it up there, but the Giants were willing to give him a shot.
Much to San Francisco's delight, he had a semi-monster year. In fact, he batted .266 -- his highest average since 2005 -- and smashed 18 longballs in 96 games, including two against the Phillies in his return trip to Citizens Bank Park, where he spent nine seasons.
Don't get me wrong, Philadelphia fans love Pat the Bat. He'll always hold a place in their hearts, but this is the playoffs. This is business. Someone might get puked on.
Of course, everyone is zeroed in on the ridiculous pitching matchups the NLCS has in store for us, but someone is bound to score at least one run. Someone has to win at least four of these games, and it might just be a former Phillie. Maybe even Rowand in a pinch-hit surprise. Not likely, but this is baseball. Anything can happen.

Would be great to see you both there.
Thanks for the invite! I'll be sure to pop in and say hi.
As a Phillies fan, I will *always* love Pat Burrell. But you're right, this is the playoffs. He's dead to me next week.
Pat Burrell has really muscular thighs. That is all.
