Jose Bautista is an Animal

Jose Bautista homered not once, but twice in his team's 3-2 win over the New York Yankees Monday night.

Count 'em: that's a big league-leading 40 bombs on the year for the Toronto Blue Jays slugger.

This game was pretty intense to begin with. In the sixth inning, both benches and bullpens cleared after Yankees rookie Ivan Nova, making his first ever big league start, fired a pitch just over the head of catcher Francisco Cervelli.

Then Nova accidentally threw a head-high pitch at Bautista, who took several steps toward the mound to have words with the kid, who probably almost wet his pants. During his next at-bat in the eighth, Bautista cranked a solo shot over the left field wall off David Robertson to break the 2-2 tie, taking almost 30 seconds to round the bases before a lengthy curtain call.

But I guess you can take however long you want to circle the bags when you're a complete badass. Bautista had this to say regarding his retribution:
Given what transpired earlier, I enjoyed it pretty good.
Now with six multi-homer games on the season, Bautista is the first Toronto player to hit 40 taters since Carlos Delgado nailed 42 back in 2003. And no, he's not on steroids.
