Joey Votto is Out of Control

After nailing his 19th home run of the season Friday, Joey Votto has now reached base in 40 straight games, marking the longest streak by any player this season.

The Cincinnati Reds first baseman also walked twice in his team's 12-0 whoopin' over the Chicago Cubs, bringing his average to .314 on the year.

After just over two seasons in the league, Votto is sporting a .310 career batting average and a .393 OBP. At 26 years old, he ranks in the National League's Top 10 in homeruns, RBI, walks, runs, average, slugging, OPS, and OBP. We'll see if he's able to extend the streak on Saturday afternoon against Randy Wells and the Cubbies.

Fangraphs don't lie: Joey Votto is quite possibly the most underrated player in baseball. Plus, he's adorable.

Update: Votto singled to center in the top of the seventh off Wells to reach base in his 41st straight game. Way to go, buddy!

Votto definitely has to be an all-star this season. He's been on all year long.
