Mariners Blackball Tattle-Tale Reporter

After a Tacoma News Tribune reporter tattled on Ken Griffey Jr. for napping in the clubhouse, the Seattle Mariners gave him the silent treatment.

For example, after the Mariners' 5-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday, Cliff Lee began to address the media before stopping abuptly and refusing to continue until Larry LaRue, the reporter in question, left the room.

LaRue's report stated that Griffey "was asleep in the clubhouse" according to one player, who went on to say, "He’d gone back about the fifth inning to get a jacket and didn’t come back. I went back in about the seventh inning — and he was in his chair, sound asleep."

The 40-year-old Griffey also insisted that he was available. Not napping. Meanwhile, Mike Sweeney offered a stern warning in defense of his teammate:
"We will support and fight and take a bullet for Ken Griffey Jr. if we have to. He's our teammate," he said. "Nothing is going to divide this clubhouse, especially a makeshift article made up of lies. We don't think there are two players who said that [about Griffey sleeping] and I challenged anybody in that room if they said it to stand up and fight me. No one stood up."
Also, Nike has re-released The Air Griffey, which is awesome.

Serves that a-hole right! Although, he was kind enough to not name names in his report...

Larry Larue is a hack. He should stick to writing about minor league teams.

About the only thing that proves is that Mike Sweeney is deeply stupid.
