Dallas Braden Does His Mama Proud
Remember a couple of weeks ago when Dallas Braden made headlines by having a meltdown when A-Rod walked all over his mound? And A-Rod was belittling the hurler by saying he only had a handful of wins and basically it was funny that he wanted a little respect? Well, here's Braden's big ol' F. U. to A-Rod: Tonight, Braden is making headlines for pitching the 19th perfect game in MLB history.
This was the second perfect game in A's history - the first was back in 1968 when Jim "Catfish" Hunter did it against the Minnesota Twins. After the game, Braden pointed to the sky in honor of his mom who passed away when he was in high school. His grandma was there in the flesh (along with less than 13,000 fans) to enjoy her grandbaby's perfect day against the Tampa Bay Rays. This was much better than his last Mother's Day outing - when he was hit by a Vernon Wells line drive. Ouch.
This was the first complete game for Braden, and hopefully not the last we see from the 26 year old. Congratulations, Dallas, on being perfect!
