GREAT article Suz! I especially like where you touched on his past issues and struggles with depression. More needs to be said about that taboo subject I think!
I agree with Megs - this is a good read, keep up the nice work.
I guess my take on the subject is this: no matter what we think, the media is always going to grab onto a story about any streak like a fat kid with a candy apple.
In the end, though, that will be a true test of the athlete's ability.
Not to mention that I guess it wouldn't be fair if the media didn't blow it up - I mean, pretty much every player in a major market (NYC, Boston, Philly, Chicago, etc) is under the microscope at all times, for happenings much less notable than this.
I suppose it should also be noted that, the average baseball fan (or even the avid fan who doesn't necessarily follow the Royals) probably wouldn't even know about Greinke's streak without being alerted by media. This was more or less just a fun post to write, not by any means a dig on blogs. :)
Copycat. ;) Great minds think alike.
Chris, how did you write that before it even happened? You're psychic!
Lucky guess. I almost went to see that game last night, but got ushered to a Lamb of God concert instead.
