Just two days after select congressmen criticized his leadership skills, baseball owners gave MLB commissioner Bud Selig a three-year contract extension, keeping the stuffy old bastard in office through 2012.
"Look, when this is over, I'm going to be 78 years old," he said.Whoa.
This may come as a surprise to some, since Selig -- running the show since 1992 -- had his mind made up on retiring after the 2009 season as recently as December. The news of his extension comes much to the dismay of Republican Representative Cliff Stearns (Fl.,) who had called for Selig's resignation immediately after the Mitchell Report was released.
"By the time I leave, you won't recognize the sport," Selig promised.

Selig added that he expects revenues to spring as baseball researches global markets and cultivates its own network. You hear that Rays? There's hope yet!

That second quote kind of gave me chills. In a creepy, bad way.
He's totally raising the roof in that pic.
Bud Selig has done wonders for the game! He has exposed baseball for what it really is: a pretencious sport full of over-paid "athletes" --- most of whom are cheaters, wife-beaters and drug addicts.
Anonymous, that tops the list of most retarded comments we've ever received.
anon, speaking badly about baseball is just letting the terrorists win.
imbciAnon, is that you, Dick Cheney? Fess up! And go find Bush, he's doing something naughty right now.
Hi Babes,
Bud Selig was given a three-year extension as baseball commissioner through the 2012 season. This decision came just two days after Seelig and Donald Fehr testified before Congress that pretty much just ripped Major League Baseball apart for there investigation of steriods. Selig will become baseball’s second-longest-serving leader behind Kenesaw Mountain Landis, who was the first commissioner from 1920-44.
Selig repeatedly said last December that he would retire after his contract expired in 2009 but many people did not beleive him and nor did I. Especially now, Selig will not be going anywhere until this steriod scandal is stopped or at least in check. He wants to the guy that is known for putting a stop to cheating in baseball and i cant say that I blame him at all. If I was the commisioner during the so called steriod years (like he was) I would not want to go anywhere until I put a stop to it.
All in all I think that Bud has done a pretty good job in his first 15 years as commish, but he will most be remembered for what he does in his next 5 years during this steriod era. If he ends it and catches a lot of big names in the process then he could go down as one of the most influential people in baseball history. I think that he has stepped up his game in the past 2 years but before that he kind of swept everything under the carpet and prayed that he would not be found, but guess what Bud it was…NOW FIX IT! And I think he will but only time will tell! BELIEVE IT!
Peace...Iron Mike
as an expos fan, i can't tell you how much i appreciate all of bud's efforts.
(okay, okay, i'm not an expos fan. but i do like baseball.)
He has a weird turkey neck.
If Bud Selig can get a three year extension to be the commissioner of the MLB, why can’t I get a guarantee from my place of employment? I’m a 40 years younger! I need a job in baseball, that’s where the job security is. That is unless you’re a GM or a manager or a hitting instructor or a pitching coach. You get the point!
Bud Selig is the face of cronyism. There was a time the concept ' conflict of interest,' would've kept him from the job he's holding onto with a grip Idi Amin would've envied.
Used car salesman was the punchline of more than a few jokes. It also was code for; sell you your own shirt back to you. Twice, if you let him.
He might think money can buy baseball cred; mainly because the definition has changed. I'm betting he's the kid they stuck in right field. Behind the rightfielder. Just like they made him commissioner.
Sooze I'm disappointeed in you. How could you lump all old people in with Bud Selig?
(Side Question: What's more worthless? Those glasses or that limp combover?)
I mean is it other elderly folks fault that Bud Selig is a complete piece of shit?
