Sad News: Joe Kennedy Passes Away

Joe Kennedy in Oakland
Free agent pitcher Joe Kennedy died early Friday morning, after collapsing at his in-laws' home in Florida. He was 28.

Few details were made available regarding the cause of his death, but some sources are blaming a brain aneurysm. According to Hillsborough County sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter, Kennedy woke up at about 1:15 a.m. Friday and collapsed as he was leaving a bedroom at the home of his wife's parents. The actual cause of death may not be known for 6-8 weeks, pending autopsy results.

The lefty was a career 43-61 with a 4.79 ERA over seven big league seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays, Colorado Rockies, Oakland Athletics, Arizona Diamondbacks and Toronto Blue Jays.

Our condolences go out to his wife, Jamie, and their one-year-old son during this difficult time.

It's sad when anyone dies at 28. That's far too young.

It's hard to lose a loved one at any time of the year, but it seems like it's even harder over the holidays.

That really is sad, especially after Thanksgiving which is a time of family and giving thanks. It will be interesting to see why he died. I will definitly be praying for his family though.
