Jose Reyes: The New Man of Steal

Jose Reyes slides safely into second under a leaping Ronnie Belliard Friday.Jose Reyes can't be trusted. You can't take your eye off of the guy for even a second and he's already split.

The New York Mets shortstop has 62 63 stolen bases on the season. SIXTY-TWO SIXTY-THREE, including 2 in each of his last three games (and one on Saturday).

So, what's his secret to successfully fooling the opposing pitching? A simple disregard for their ability to pick him off. Sure, he's been caught 15 times, but that's inevitable in 78 attempts.

When Reyes isn't swiping bags and flashing leather up the middle, he's keeping a steady .303 batting average with 9 homers and 48 RBIs on the year. We are so much more than impressed right now.

And he's so damned great to watch too. We need more guys like Reyes in MLB.

I don't think second baseman in baseball is more fired up about their tag team duo Luis Castillo - those two are like peas and carrots.
