Ooooooh My Achin' Back!

Arizona Diamondbacks veteran Randy Johnson was placed on the DL Friday night (for only the second time this season) due to lower back pain and muscle tightness.

The Big Unit first experienced the tightness in his butt while playing catch and is expected to have an MRI to assess the extent of the damage.

After starting this season on the disabled list while recovering from offseason back surgery, Johnson is 4-2 with a 3.52 ERA in nine starts.

In his last outing, the 43-year-old lefty allowed only one run on four hits in six innings for a win over the Boston Red Sox.

Right-hander Edgar Gonzalez will start in his place Saturday.
