Monday's Babelicious Scoreboard
Just three weeks after trudging through the worst slump of his career, Chone Figgins had the game of his life.
The third baseman went 6-for-6 with a double, four singles and a walkoff triple (his 40th career trip to third) that gave the Los Angeles Angels a 10-9 victory over the Houston Astros.
Figgins also drove in three runs - matching teammate Garret Anderson's 1996 franchise record for hits in a game - aiding in the Halos' 5-run rally to preserve their six-game lead in the AL West. Figgins is batting .456 over his last 17 games, raising his batting average to .284.
Dave Borkowski retired his first two batters in the ninth before giving up a single to Reggie Willits. Then, Trever Miller got on base before Figgins lined the lefty's 1-1 pitch the opposite direction to right field.
Francisco Rodriguez earned the victory, narrowly escaping a bases-loaded jam in the ninth by striking out Craig Biggio with his filthy breaking ball. Biggio is just 10 hits shy of 3,000 for his career.
Mike Lamb and Luke Scott both homered for the Astros off starter John Lackey and Mark Loretta went 4-for-5 with three RBIs.
Lackey, who faced the Angels for the first time in his career last night, allowed six runs on eight hits over 4.2 innings for his shortest outing of the season. The righty, who leads the majors with 10 wins, walked four and struck out four.
Astros starter Chris Sampson surrendered hits to 11 of his first 21 batters - 14 total - over six innings, including singles by Vladimir Guerrero and Gary Matthews, Jr. that kicked off the Angels' five-run seventh.

Sorry sooze, but I enjoyed watching the Mets for the first time in eleventy-seven days last night.
I gotta say, though, your Twins play some serious defense.
Man, that game was heart-breaking. I love watching the Mets too, though. Jose Reyes is really something.
We can hope for a W tonight from Johan, though!
