The 21-year-old righty left his start against the Minnesota Twins on April 18th after only a third of an inning. He allowed three runs, walked two and threw a wild pitch before he finally called trainers to the hill to be pulled.
Up until his injury, Hernandez had allowed only four hits in 17 scoreless innings - including a one-hitter against the Boston Red Sox.
Hernandez was at home Friday with a 102-degree fever and flu-like symptoms while his teammates were whooping some Yankee tail. So, throwing an extended bullpen session less than 24 hours later shows how
