The San Diego Padres have placed right-hander Clay Hensley on the 15-day DL due to a strained groin which he suffered in Wednesday night's game against the Washington Nationals. He was 1-3 with a 7.62 ERA so far this season. The club recalled lefty Justin Hampson from AAA Portland to take his roster spot.
The Pads are expected to promote righty Justin Germano in time to take Hensley's spot in the rotation for Tuesday night's game at Atlanta. Germano is a creer 1-3 with an 8.04 ERA in nine games, including 6 starts, with 24 strikeouts.
