Toronto Blue Jays closer B.J. Ryan will miss the rest of the season after having Tommy John surgery on his left elbow today.
Ryan, who signed a $47 million, five-year contract before last season, should be ready to pitch again by spring training next year.
The lefty was 0-2 with three saves and a 12.46 ERA in five games this season after sustaining a low 1.37 ERA with 38 saves last year.

This is a HUGE blow to the Jays.
Yeah it is. He was pretty awesome last year, too. It sucks.
This is a HUGE blow to my fantasy team.
I thought the B.J. Ryan/Mariano Rivera combo was going to dominate.
Damn... Rivera could use some relief, huh.
