Moises Alou Headed to the DL

The New York Mets placed third base coach veteran outfielder Moises Alou on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left quadriceps following their 8-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs last night, retroactive to May 13th.

Making his 15th career trip to the DL (yikes) Alou is batting .318 with two homers and 13 RBI.

The club also called up 24-year-old lefty Jason Vargas to start today against the Cubs. He is 2-3 with a 5.30 ERA with the AAA New Orleans Zephyrs, but has struggled over his last four starts, going 0-4 with an ERA over 9.00.

Professional base thief Jose Reyes, who left last night's game in the eighth inning with some tightness in his left hamstring, said afterwards that he was fine and would play today with no problems.

Apparently, he hurt himself on the first swing of his at-bat in the eighth, felt a little cramp and decided to take the careful road due to past hammy injuries.

If he could have found a way to piss on his quad, maybe he could have toughened it up and he wouldn't be on the DL.

Are quad injuries like jellyfish injuries?
