Ramón Hernández Placed on the DL

The Baltimore Orioles placed catcher Ramón Hernández on the 15-day disabled list Sunday due to a strained left oblique, retroactive to March 31st. He was scratched from last Monday's opener and will be eligible to be activated April 15th.

Hernández will rehab alongside left fielder Jay Payton, who is nursing a strained right hamstring at the Orioles' complex in Sarasota, Florida.

In other O's news, lefty Kurt Birkins, who has not pitched since the Spring, was recalled from AAA Norfolk.
